Looking back at Le Labo Fragrances space in New York, featured in Water Journal Volume 4°, I recently visited their beautiful lab in Soho, London. The atmosphere of their first lab on Elizabeth Street in New York City, originally created to fight the rising tide of conformity, is felt throughout all of Le Labo spaces across the world. One can hardly ever pass by without stepping inside onto the creaking floorboard that transports you a few decades back in time. What might’ve seemed like five minutes suddenly turns into half an hour and you’re completely in awe of every scent in the air, choosing the one closest to your heart that will be formulated by hand, then labelled and carefully packed to take home.
